Word of Encouragement
Some moments in life stop us in our tracks, the brilliance of a sunset, a rainbow after a storm. These moments awaken something deep within us – awe and wonder. Yet living in a culture driven by speed and documentation of life and events, we often trade experiencing moments for capturing them, replaying life instead of living it.
There are also moments when God interrupts our lives, when His presence presses in with such weight that awe and wonder are the only legitimate responses.
Scripture has many stories where when God’s glory was revealed, the human posture changed, mountains trembled, and people fell silent. God’s glory was not simply observed; it was encountered.
In the Old Testament, the manifestation of God’s presence was unmistakable. Fire descended on Mount Sinai. The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle in response to worship. These encounters were not emotional experiences; they were glory disruptions that reoriented people to who God is and who they were in His presence. Glory carried weight, and that weight demanded reverence.
In the New Testament, God’s glory was revealed fully in Christ, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory.” (John 1:14a ESV). When Jesus spoke, demons fled, storms obeyed, and men were left speechless. Even in the garden of Gethsemane, when He identified Himself as, “I AM He,” armed guards fell to the ground as dead (John 18: 5-6 ESV).
God’s revealed glory is not quietly announced; it reveals authority and demands a response.
I am deeply convinced that we are entering a season of awe and wonder. This is an encouragement to cultivate silence in your life, not because God is absent, but because He is near and you will be postured to respond to His revealed glory.
“Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10 ESV
